Faidley Seafood (Best. Crab Cakes. Ever.)

Definitely Not Feeling Crabby

One of my favorite places to go since moving to D.C. is Baltimore. My boyfriend and I went one weekend before Christmas and fell in love. There is so much to do and see, and so much good food. We are both huge foodies, but he’s into all of the cooking channels and was the one to find Faidley Seafood through food network! So the last weekend we went to Baltimore we of course had to stop in and see what all the fuss was about. I’m not a huge crab cake gal, so I was a little unsure about trying it, but I’m so freakin glad I did.

It was a pretty low key weekend for us, and I was trying not to focus on getting pictures of everywhere we went and everything we did, but I knew I had to share Faidley Seafood with y’all. It wasn’t at all what I was expecting when I walked in. Before we had gone in, my boyfriend had said to me, “I don’t think it’s what you’ll expect, it’s really gritty”. Not a problem for me, but gritty it was. It’s a whole seafood market with different vendors and stands with different foods, and then there is the fish market that has Faidley. There’s no seating areas, just tables that you stand at, and lunch trays with paper plates and baskets where you get the food. Which, now that I think about it, is exactly how the perfect crab cakes would be served.

Not overpriced, not too fancy, but my goodness so dang yummy. It was genuinely the most delicious thing ever. I wasn’t very hungry, and like I said, I am not a huge fan of crab cakes, so we shared one. When we got to the last bite it was actually a little bit painful for me to offer it up to my boyfriend. Such a difficult decision. Not ever being that kind ever again.

Afterwards we just walked around the market and looked at all the other vendors, which was such a unique and fun experience. This isn’t a place I would usually go check out or really dig and look for, but I’m so glad we found it and were able to go, and I highly recommend if any of y’all are ever in Baltimore to go get some delicious food!
